Little Jazz Mass

Well, that’s it for me this year, as I’m going to be away for the Malvina Major and Salvation Army gigs. I expect to be back, along with many others on 10 February 2015. And we will, apparently, be right into Bob Chilcott‘s Little Jazz Mass. Bob is a “contemporary hero of British choral music” according to his Web page (though lo be fair that is a quote from The Observer) and he certainly seems to be prolific and widely performed. Little Jazz Mass is a setting of the Missa Brevis, 12 minutes long and with a difficulty level of Easy (which sounds good to me).

If you search for “Chilcott Little Jazz Mass” on Youtube you get quite a few hits. I’ve watched and listened to a few and I think I Like this one the most.

Anyway, I suggest you check out a few.

As far as rehearsal files go, there’s this, with separate MP3 files for each part of a SATB arrangement:

So, there’s no excuse for saying you’re bored over the holidays.
