Saturday Rehearsal

As most choir members should know, there will be an extra rehearsal tomorrow morning, Saturday 14 April. Here, via Susan Hamilton, are the details:

Hall open from 9am. Men and women, please be ready to start at 9.30 am. Sectional rehearsals till 11 am, then a 20–30 minute break for refreshments, followed by full rehearsal till 1 pm.
If possible, look at your music and words before Saturday.
If anyone feels like bringing some cake that would be great!
The Wilson Parking carpark over the road will be open but we will have to pay the usual weekend rate: approximately $4 for the morning.

The Choir at Work

At the rehearsal on 3 April, Mike Lewis (see the Mike Lewis Pictures page on Facebook) came and took a few photos of the choir. I have put them in an album on the choir’s Flickr page. Now everyone can see what we get up to.

Upcoming performances

The choir has been hard at work for the last month under the direction of Mark Dorrell on a repertoire of show tunes, notably Fiddler on the Roof. We will get a chance to try them out at a couple of performances:

Term 1 begins!

Happy New Year to you all.

Capital Choir rehearsals will resume on Tuesday 13th February at Central Baptist Church, Boulcott Street. The committee has decided we will revert to the usual starting time of 7.15 pm, so please be there as soon as possible after 7 pm so that we can start the warm up promptly. Hopefully that will give you time for a bit of a catch up chat!

We will send out an information sheet and provisional programme before rehearsals start (copies will also be available on the 13th for those without access to a printer).  At that time we hope to be able to announce some great news about an interim Musical Director.

We are looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the 13th.

Kind regards,

Susan and Tom.

From Susan Hamilton…

Capital Choir’s Christmas concert, Light of Lights, will be held at 7:30 pm on Tuesday 5 December at Central Baptist Church, Boulcott St. It will feature the Sun Festival Carols by Jenny McLeod, a well-known NZ composer.

If you click on the image to the right you can download a copy of the flyer in PDF format.

I hope that many of you will be able to join us. There will be audience participation in some of the music and a Christmas supper afterwards.

Kind regards,

Susan
